Hangar 9 RV-8 Sport
Founded by Richard "Van" VanGrunsven in 1973,
Van's Aircraft is a homebuilt aircraft
kit manufacturer based at Aurora State Airport, Oregon, USA.
Hangar 9’s scale ARTF model is based on the hugely successful “Vans Aircraft”
RV8 homebuilt plane that first flew in 1995. The RV8 was designed right from
the start to offer civilian pilots a relatively high performance low-wing aircraft
with a sporty “fighter” type two-set tandem cockpit. The RV8 flies at between
206 and 222 mph depending on the engine used, and with its lightweight all aluminium
construction it also has a highly desirable rate of climb.
This super scale model is constructed from laser-cut balsa and plywood
resulting in a durable airframe with an accurate scale outline that
is then covered with Ultracote™ in a typical scale colour scheme,
predominately white with red and silver trim stripes and a red and
white checkerboard rudder.
Designed to fly with an Evolution™ .52 two-stroke or electric motor
the model replicates the performance of the full size very well and
offers the modeller the chance to fly a great looking scale aircraft
with dependable flight characteristics. The electric route is made
simpler by the inclusion of all the necessary hardware in the box
– no conversion is necessary.
Thanks to the models light wing loading and fully functioning flaps
scale landings can be performed with ease with minimal risk of tip
stalling, whilst the pre-hinged control surfaces with pre-installed
control horns, plug in wing panels and plug in tail makes transport
and assembly easy.
Access to the radio equipment is equally easy thanks to the large
removable top hatch.
The fibreglass engine cowling aluminium landing gear and wheel spats
come ready painted and match the covering perfectly, and overall
assembly of the model is both quick and easy thanks to the step-by-step
photo illustrated assembly guide and the comprehensive hardware pack.
