EFL2800 Aeronca Champ 15e ARF
E-Flite’s Platinum Series Aeronca Champ 15e ARF delivers the smooth flying and handling characteristics of the full size aircraft and with its superb attention to detail it offer modellers the chance to experience the flying style of this all time classic with the minimum of effort. The Aeronca Champ 15e ARF features a fully detailed all-scale outline, which includes simulated scale struts, engine exhaust, and tail wheel; shock-absorbing landing gear, and pre-installed seats, seat-backs and cockpit detail.
Constructed from balsa and lightweight plywood and finished in a traditional
Aeronca colour scheme with yellow and orange Ultracote covering, the Champ
is a truly handsome looking model.
At the flying field the Champ allows for easy set-up with its removable
two-piece wing and easy pin-release battery hatch.
In addition to its near-perfect scale outline, this Platinum Series ARF
comes out of the box with many other scale details, most of which have
been completed. Some of these include instrument panel details, a pre-painted
fibreglass cowl with simulated exhausts outlets and scale shock absorbing
landing gear.
E-flite has even gone so far as to construct the airframe as close as possible
to the full-scale version.
If you love general aviation classics, but don’t really feel like spending a lot of time building one, the E-flite Aeronca Champ 15e is just the scale “stick-and-rudder” model you’ve been waiting for.
EFL 2800 Aeronca Champ
The Aeronca Champ dates back to 1944, originally built by the Aeronca Aircraft Corporation for flight training and personal use. Designer Ray Hermes listed what he thought were the shortcomings of the decade-old Piper Cub and used this list to create what he hoped would be a better all round light aircraft, the end result was the outstanding Aeronca Champ.
The Champ was designed in tandem with the 11AC Chief, and both share roughly 80% of the same parts. However, the Champ greatly outsold the Chief and by 1951the company had sold more than 10,000 Champs.
Today, the popular full-scale Champ is produced by American Champion Aircraft Corporation, and you can still see the Champ being flown for training purposes and personal use.
