Based on one of the most successful Primary Trainers used
by the United States Army Air Corps during the1940’s the
Fairchild PT-19 gave novice pilots the opportunity to experience
the flight characteristics of a low-wing mono-plane before
making the ultimate transition onto the fighter aircraft
of the day. Prior to this most training was done using slower
and slightly more stable PT-17 bi-planes, not the ideal start
especially if the next aircraft to be flown was a full-blown
fighter!
Now E-flite offers modelers the opportunity to make a similar
transition with this unique dual-function PT19. Assume for
a moment that many of today’s R/C pilots first started flying
with a control line model, then look at the advances in electric
flight in terms of battery duration, motors and chargers
etc and then look closely at combining all of these factors.
The result; the highly versatile E-flite PT19 450 ARF.
This unique model is capable of being flown either by radio
control (RC) or control line (CL) depending on how it is
configured. With all of the necessary hardware and conversion
parts included in the box pilots can easily switch from RC
to CL in just a few minutes.
The model features a very accurate scale outline and comes
almost ready to fly with a lightweight balsa and plywood
airframe covered in Ultracote in an accurate blue and yellow
colour scheme with pre-applied decals and a matching pre-painted
fiberglass cowling.
The twin open cockpit fuselage features an easy access battery
hatch, an adjustable motor mount for E-flite’s Park 450/480
motors and a steerable tail-wheel for impeccable ground handling.
E-flite’s excellent illustrated assembly guide and comprehensive
hardware pack complete this superb dual use model.
