P38/F-5E Lightning

The superb P38 Lightning from E-flite gives modelers the opportunity to fly one of the best, and most potent twin engined fighters of World War Two. The full-size P38 was a truly remarkable aircraft, and this superb recreation is equally remarkable.

E-flite have chosen to model the P38 in the style of a photo reconnaissance F-5E version that took part in the invasion of Europe during D-Day, it wearing the blue-grey reconnaissance paint scheme with black and white invasion stripes. The wealth of scale detail in this model includes everything that a modeler could want, and the list is almost endless. Features such as removable drop tanks, contra-rotating propellers with spinners, functional scale mass elevator balances, detailed cockpit with pilot painted pilot figure, etched panel lines, accurate pre-applied decals, detailed superchargers moulded into the top of the fuselage booms, weathered and painted to represent a “war weary” version.

The kit comes with a host of practical features enabling the model to be made flight ready in just a few hours. Plug in wing panels, pre-installed carbon wing tubes, pre-hinged control surfaces, easy-access magnetic hatches on the bottom of each of the tail booms provide quick and easy access to the elevator and rudder servos, and the top mounted magnetic battery hatch allows easy access to the battery, receiver and speed controller. All without the need for tools. On the ground and in the air the contra-rotating propellers provide straight tracking, and they substantially reduce torque reaction, making the P38 the smoothest twin-motor model you have ever flown!
