When it comes to warbird models the P51 Mustang stands out as one of the all time great fighters of World War Two now history comes to life with this fantastic ready to fly electric P.51 Mustang from Parkzone.

Constructed from highly durable foam with etched panel lines and hatch detail the model is finished in the colour scheme of “Gunfighter” a Mustang of the 343Fighter Squadron, 8th Air Force USAAF.
The model requires no additional building, gluing or painting just a few simple assembly steps, about 30 minutes in total and you can be ready to fly, then its off to the flying field to experience the thrill of warbird flying with high G dog fighting turns, low strafing beat-ups and smooth victory rolls!
At the field access to the flight battery and servos is via the large removable canopy hatch without the need to remove the wing between flights so the model can be ready for another mission in no time at all.

The full-size Mustang had outstanding duration and Parkzone’s “Gunfighter” continues that tradition with flights of around 10-12 minutes being the norm, due in part to the lightweight airframe and its powerful 480 brushless motor and the 3S 1300mAh Li-Po flight battery pack.

As standard the P51 Mustang comes with everything needed to get flying with no need to make additional purchases and features a large easy access battery hatch fully proportional ZX-10 3 channel radio with pre-installed servos and brushless speed controller, a 3S 1300Mah Li-Po and a 2-3 cell Li-Po balancing charger, AA batteries for the transmitter and of course a fully detailed “Gunfighter”

P-51D Mustang “Gunfighter”

In April 1942 the RAF’s fighter development unit tested the early P51 Mustang and found it wanting at higher altitude, however it had great manoeuvrability and speed and after testing by Rolls Royce it was realised that re-engineering the Mustang with a Merlin 61 would result in a phenomenal improvement in performance.

The result was astonishing, the high altitude performance and range with the laminar flow wing and drop tanks would enable the Mustang to excel as a long range bomber escort.
American production of the Mustang with the Rolls Royce engines built under license by Packard the American car manufacturer was started in early 1943 and the birth of the P51 legend began!

It was largely due to the Mustang that daylight raids into German territory during 1944 became possible without the horrendous losses of earlier raids. The P51 also played a pivotal role in wresting air superiority away from the Luftwaffe, a vital condition for the allied invasion of France in June 1944.
