A four-channel model out of the box the F4U-1A Corsair is powered by a 15 size 950 Kv brushless outrunner motor allowing it a very spirited warbird performance; rolls loops and high speed beat-ups are all performed with ease and with a 11.1volt 2200 mAh LiPo battery, flight duration can be over 10 minutes. It comes ready painted in an authentic "Pacific" arena colour scheme as used by the US Navy and Marines with the correct "stars and bars" insignia of the period.

The Corsair's features all contribute to provide a great scale model both on the ground and in the air. Scale touches include extensive panel line detail on the fuselage and wings, a two bladed propeller with aluminium "dome" spinner, dummy radial engine, and a painted pilot figure. Drop tanks are also included but they are easily removable, leaving the choice of performance vs. scale to the individual pilot. Flaps can be easily activated with the installation of servos in the already moulded in mounting pockets.

The model comes out of the box with fixed landing gear as standard but it can be easily upgraded to retracting gear using E-flite's twist and turn 90 degree electric retracts. Using either version of landing gear though its wide track and steerable tail-wheel will ensure positive ground handling.

Overall assembly is simple with the need for only a few hand tools and when out flying access to the battery and radio bay is very easy via the large removable top hatch that is simply held into place with magnets.

A comprehensive illustrated assembly guide completes this unique warbird model detailing build, setup and upgrades for flaps and retracts.

The Chance Vought F4U-1A Corsair

If not one of the most successful fighters of the Pacific Theatre during World War Two the F4U Corsair was easily the most recognisable with the distinctive cranked "inverted gull wing" design necessary to provide sufficient ground clearance for the large propeller fitted to the aircraft.

Often referred to as "whistling death" by the Japanese, the F4U was conversely known as the "Sweetheart of Okinawa" by American ground troops, and earned itself an awesome reputation in aerial combat.
