| Fitting the Sonic Combat Module the Parkzone Mustang and Focke-Wulf 190. | |||||||||
| The term dog fight and Combat Module would probably be most synonymous with the two WWII fighters in the Parkzone range. Although not fitted with an external interface both the Parkzone P-51D Mustang (PKZ1500) and Focke-Wulf 190 (PKZ 1600) do have the X-Port facility needed to use the Sonic Combat Module. On these planes the interface is situated within the receiver/ESC unit inside the fuselage. So although not as easy to fit as on the Hobbyzone planes a little bit of work with some basic hand | these models combat ready in a relatively short space
of time. |

| 1 After removing the four small screws that hold the Sonic Combat Module together, separate the two halves and inside look for the two screws that hold the modules clip in place. You will find them behind two pieces of tape. Once the screws are undone remove them and the clip, and re-assemble the module. |
|||||||||
| 2 Trim back as far as you can the curved mounting tabs on the module, the shorter these are the closer the module will sit to the fuselage. |
|||||||||
| 3 Cut a strip of double sided servo tape about 25mm long and position it in the centre of the unit in between the tabs you have just trimmed back. Add more pieces one on top of another until the height of the tape is greater than the height of the truncated tabs. |

| 4 Take the wing off of the plane so you can access the receiver/ESC unit. DON’T unplug the aileron extension though. Plug the X-Port extension lead into the middle socket of the receiver/ESC unit. |
|||||||||
| 5 The module will be fitted on the right side of the fuselage just above the wing fillet, approximately 100mm behind the exhaust pipes. First though connect the unit to the X-Port extension lead and trial fit it to be sure that it can be installed with all the connectors inside the fuselage. The wire runs into the fuselage in between the wing fillet and the wing although a small hole in the side of the fuselage can facilitate this too. Once confident of the fit re-attach the wing and firmly mount the Sonic Combat Module to the side of the fuselage using the double sided tape. Please note that although this method of fixing is the simplest, removal of the unit after it has been taped on can mean that some of the paint finish can be damaged. |
