SEASON FINALE

The last major model show of the season took place at the Hop Farm in Kent, and what a show it was, a fitting finale to the season!
The “Hop Farm” has something for everyone. Working Shire horses and other farm animals along with a “petting corner” where smaller children had the opportunity to stroke rabbits and other small furry creatures. A military vehicle display, two boat pools for the model boats to “set sail” on and a buggy track for the cars covered the non-airbourne side of RC but one area on the trade line that was always packed with spectators was the huge display of radio controlled tanks. All very realistic with amazing sound effects, and you were never quite sure if the guns could fire real shells or not.

HANGAR 9 WARBIRDS
The weather was great throughout the weekend, and the sky was full of exciting models during both days, everything from high wing models to turbine-powered airliners, and of course the boys from Horizon were there in force flying on both days.
John Norris, Perry Lambert, Darren Goule, Alan Leighton, were joined by Ken Bones and Greg Veasy flying some of the great Hangar 9 warbirds, and during these flying slots the crowd was treated to some very exciting flying from the guys with six models demonstrated in typical Horizon style, nice tight formations, high speed “beat up’s” with mass loops and victory rolls completing the displays. As for the models flown, these were a combination of the 60 and 150 size P 51 Mustangs together with the 60 size F4U Corsair, Hellcat, and P47 Thunderbolt all powered with Evolution engines and controlled with Spektrum DX7 radio equipment.
PLENTY OF RETAILERS TO GO TO FOR THAT WINTER PROJECT!
Both the trade and flight line were crammed with spectators over the two days and most traders stands seemed to be doing brisk business. Thanks to the layout it was possible to go shopping and watch the flying displays at more or less the same time, and lots of people took the opportunity to grab a bargain, or perhaps a new kit to build during the autumn and winter months.

LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT YEAR

Here at Horizon plans are already underway for the display season next year. With some new and exciting models on the way you can be assured that the guys at Horizon will once again displaying the models to their very best, and of course willing to talk with anyone that may have some question to ask about our products.
We thank you for your continued support at the shows and look forward to seeing you again next year.
