Wings and Wheels 2008
Wings and Wheels     Now in its 22nd year Wings and Wheels is as popular as ever and one show the team would not want to miss. However with so many new models from Horizon to display it was decided to take along the “mini marquee” to allow members of the public a closer look at some of these exciting new models, John Norris Flight Brand Manager assisted by Darren Goule who made the trip down from the West Midlands, and Perry and John Lambert who it turn were joined by George, and Ted throughout the weekend to answer the many questions from the public and fellow flyers.

On static display in the marquee were the new ARTF models from E-flite including the fantastic Blade CX2 helicopters with the new “SH-60 Seahawk” body-shells and the striking new twin motored “Deuces Wild” that together with the ParkZone “Radian” motor glider generated a great deal of interest, whilst outside the larger Hangar9 models were on static display until it was time for the flying demonstration slots and these included the Hangar 9 warbirds with the new World War One ARTF Fokker DV111 joined by the Sopwith Camel and the striking aerobatic Hangar9 Sukoi SU26, Cap 232 and Carden YAK54.

Perry and Darren put on superb aerobatic flying displays over the two days with the Hangar9 Sukoi SU26,CAP232 and the Carden Yak54, Perry had also flown the B25 Mitchell in an earlier slot but very wisely decided to ground some of the other lighter models due to the very strong 20+mph crosswind that prevailed for most of the weekend. This was where the “mini marquee” proved invaluable as it allowed the public to see these models up close, albeit in static form but none the less they were able to get much closer to them than would otherwise have been the case if the models had been on the flight line.   Perry and Darren Set up

Another superb weekend and despite the strong wind there was some great flying from all the guys that flew, and to all the visitors to our little “marquee” it was nice to meet you all, we hope you liked what you saw and we look forward to seeing you all again.
