Display 2008
Time to get the “show” on the road? Well not really the show
got on the road some time ago with the first of the seasons flying
displays and the models flown at the first few major shows of
the season, however we have been so busy, “lucky us” that we
have just caught up, so here is a retro look at what the guys
have been flying this year, starting with the display at Rougham.
John Norris and Perry displayed the Hangar9 B.25 Mitchell bomber
the 1/5th scale P47 Thunderbolt along with the stunning new giant
scale aerobatic models from Hangar9 the 97inch Sukoi SU26MM and
the slightly smaller 89inch Carden YAK54, exciting display were
put on by the guys throughout the weekend with the new aerobatic
models in particular getting a lot of attention from the watching
public. |

The
second show for the team was the ever popular Blackbushe show, now
in its second season and only a one day show it attracts many of the
top display pilots and it has become a firm favourite with pilots.
In addition to the Hangar9 warbirds, Thunderbolt, mustang and B25 Mitchell
displayed, John, Perry and Darren Goule put up a three plane formation
with the stunning new ARTF electric powered twin ducted fan F-15 Strike
Eagle from E-flite, this model with its striking red and white colour
scheme was a big hit with both fellow pilots and the watching public
alike. Some very low passes were made with these models and one in
particular that tests the nerves, the opposition pass! Perry of course
had the luxury of retracting landing gear and used this to great effect,
extending the gear at just a few inches before touch down, whilst John
and Darren made perfectly smooth landings on the tarmac. A great show
with some great flying, we can’t wait till next year! |

Weston Park was the next show and here John,
Perry, Darren were joined by Alan Leighton, and Ali Mashinchy, all
flying warbirds from Hangar9, including P47 Thunderbolts along with
the P51 Mustang, Spitfire, F4U Corsair and Hellcat, all performed flawlessly
and being equipped with Spektrum 2.4 radios there were absolutely no
radio issues at all. Formation and low “beat up” were the order of
the day during these slots and in the evening the opportunity was taken
to display the new E-flite Sea Fury complete with retracts, the old
favourite the ParkZone Spitfire and Ali flew the new Hangar9 Sundowner
50 converted to electric power, and as always Ali put on a very lively
display with this “racer” type model. All in all a fantastic weekend! |
