South West Model Engineering, Model Making and Hobbies
Exhibition
Now in its second year and becoming ever more popular the South West
Model Engineering, Model Making and Hobbies Exhibition is held at the
fantastic Royal Bath and West Showground Shepton Mallet. This event
saw the public and model retailers turn out in force over the weekend
of 18th and 19th April 2009 for what is rapidly becoming the UK's most
interactive model making show. |

John Norris,
Perry Lambert and Daren Goule from Horizon Hobby were in attendance
throughout the weekend to show of some of the latest planes like the
new P51 Mustang PTS and Parkzone’s new Micro Sukhoi. In addition to
taking part in the flying demonstration on the flight line Perry and
Daren were on hand with the Alpha 40 trainers from Hangar 9 to provide
“flight experience” flights to people who have never flown a model
before. Using the buddy box system each participant had a good flight,
the combination of the Alpha 40, Evolution engines and Spektrum radios
performed reliably and faultlessly through out and who knows, some
may have got the model flying bug as a result; lets hope so! |

In addition to the model flying, John Norris spent a
very enjoyable weekend manning the Horizon display stand in our “mini
marquee”. Here members of the public and modelers alike were able to
see first hand some of the latest model aircraft and helicopters from
Hangar 9, Parkzone, Hobbyzone and E-Flite, and of course John was on
hand to answer questions and hand out brochures to what seemed a never
ending flow of interested people.

With good weather, great flying and lots to see and do, in what seemed
no time at all the weekend was over and it was time to load up the van
and make the trip back home, and as John said “this has been a fantastic
weekend, we can’t wait to come back next year”
