The International
Large Model Air Show Cosford 18th – 19th July 2009
The Large Model Association’s (LMA) weekend rally at RAF Cosford has
to rank as the premier show for large scale model aircraft in the country.
This year marks the 17th anniversary of the show that is organised jointly
by the LMA in a co-operative venture involving the RAF Museum and adjacent
RAF station which has made its airfield available for the event it made
this the biggest and best event yet.
Over 200 large scale model aero-planes are were on display and these
along with over 60 trade stalls, catering outlets, children’s fun rides
and access to the Museum made Cosford a great day out for all the family.
As with any outdoor event the weather plays a key part and although
the weather could have been a bit kinder the show was an overwhelming
success with many examples of fantastic scale aero modelling on display
both on the ground and in the air.
During the full size display on Saturday the crowds were entertained
in grand style!
with a display by the worlds only flying full size Vulcan bomber, a truly
awesome sight and sound, whilst the displays by the three historic aircraft
from the Shuttleworth collection Old Warden gave an insight to an earlier
time in aviation with English and German training aircraft from the early
1940’s in the air.
John Norris and Darren Goule worked feverishly though out the weekend
in the Horizon Hobby display tent and the guys were kept busy all weekend
proving relevant information to what seemed a never ending stream of
modelers and public alike, well done guys!
To the magnificent models then and a closer look at just a few. |
