London Model Engineering Exhibition |
|||
| Now in its 14th year the South's
largest Model Engineering Exhibition took place once again in the Great
Hall of the Alexandra Palace, North London. This leading exhibition for model engineers continues to enthrall visitors and enthusiasts alike with over 1000 fantastic scale models from the early age of steam engines right up to today’s modern marvels. This prestigious exhibition also benefits from the full support of over forty national and regional modelling clubs, societies and associations on hand to provide all the information visitors could want if they are looking to get into any aspect of modelling. This year the exhibition was bigger and better than ever with a larger interactive area featuring radio controlled tanks, trucks, |
boats and of course the indoor
flying area hosted and organized by the British Model Flying Association
(BMFA).
Once again Horizon Hobby UK were pleased to attend and Horizon pilots John Norris, Perry Lambert were joined by Perry’s father John Lambert, brother Wayne and Perry’s son James (a real family affair) for three days of very entertaining indoor flying. Working closely with the BMFA the guys kept the spectators entertained with superb displays of helicopter flying using the fantastic range of E-flite Blade indoor helicopters including the twin rotor-head mCX Tandem Rescue helicopter. Fixed wing scale models were represented by the amazingly slow flying |
Parkzone Micro J3
Piper Cub whilst the aerobatics performed by the E-flite Micro 4 Site biplane
can only be described as outrageous! And for added excitement there was
the “limbo” flying under the banner fixed between two short poles.
On our static display stand there were several more electric models from E-flite, Parkzone and Hobbyzone including the new Blade SR single rotor mid-sized helicopter, the super fast Habu Jet, the delightful Piper L4 Grasshopper and from Hangar9 the large scale petrol powered Taylorcraft and a first for us, the showing of the new ready to run ship the “Arleigh Burke” from our Proboat range In addition to the flying displays there was a constant queue of people wanting to |
experience the thrill of flying a model plane or helicopter
on the Hangar9 FS-One flight simulator. To sum up the three days then, lots of very entertaining flying, lots of fun and lots of interest from fellow modellers and public alike, what more could you ask for? What a cracking way to get 2010 started, thanks again to the BMFA and the pilots for getting the New Year off to a flying start! TG |
