The initial
testing of the new Corally Phi continues apace, after
two practice sessions the Horizon Hobby UK team took
the new Corally Phi to the West London Racing Centre
for the first competitive run out for the new chassis
design.
The weather was kind
and the meeting took place on the hottest day of the
year so far, which allowed the team to really concentrate
on find out the optimum settings.
Chris Delves lead the way in qualifying from fellow
Horizon Hobby UK team mate Chris Kerswell in second
place, Richard (The Ginge) Thorpe who was running a
RDX qualifing in 8th place for the main 19turn A final.
During the day a number
of small changes where carried to the suspension settings
by both drivers to optimise the mid corner speed and
traction of the turns. By the end of day both had agreed
too what they felt would be the best setting, so both
cars started the A final with the same set up.
The first A final leg
had Chris Delves pulling away fast from the other Chris
at the start and never looking like loosing the lead
that he had built up, the second and final leg of the
A final saw a reversal of positions with Chris Kerswell
leading after a small error had dropped Chris D out of
the lead, mid race saw Chris Delves put in a charge after
Chris Kerswell had a slight slip up to close the gap
to millimetres but Chris Kerswell recovered well to finish
the final three meters in the lead. The Leg One
win coupled to the TQ gave Chris Delves the overall result
from Chris Kerswell making it a PHI one two.
