The fist
national of the 19 turn season took place at the fast
and flowing curves of Snetterton. The track is well know
for its large unforgiving curbs which can catch most
out, sending their cars into the blue. This meeting was
the second outing for the team with the PHI, and for
one member of the team his first (Mr. Lissamore), so
new car plus little track time meant a lot of hard work
from the team on the Saturday; but by the end of the
day the team had their cars very well balanced, carrying
good corner speed and most importantly producing lap
times that were competitive with the other top names
at the meeting. |

Sunday was a little
torrid for Chris Kerswell, who made a mistake in the
first run which cost him big on time and then he went
on to take TQ in the second round only to be disqualified
for being underweight! Meanwhile, Christopher Delves
firmly secured second position with Steve Lissamore in
fourth up to the final round. With Chris Kerswell’s
round 2 time taken away from him, he had to go for broke
in the third and final round of qualifying, but he wasn’t
the only driver putting on new rubber and looking to
go for an all out run! No further improvements from either
Christopher Delves or Steve Lissamore meant their position
on the grid depended on the top heat’s performance.
Chris Kerswell started his run mid way through the stagger,
which meant he had to deal with traffic and potential
crashed cars in his path; from the offset Chris drove
supremely well, hitting every apex and carrying tremendous
speed into and out of every corner. Mid way through the
race he caught up to the front runner and was in the
lead, and he just kept on extending it. By the end of
the five minutes he had demolished the track lap record,
and almost made the 23rd lap, which is an outstanding
effort on Chris’ behalf coupled with the new PHI
which was proving itself to be a race winning platform
at national level on its second outing!!! |

The finals proved
to be a walk over for Chris K in both finals, pulling
away from the pack. Christopher Delves had good starts
in both finals and got into 2nd by the first corner,
but straight line speed was an issue for him, and trying
to remain in front of faster cars caused him to make
small mistakes going just that little bit too close to
the corner thus losing position! Steve Lissmore drove
well in both finals, taking fourth in the first, but
suffering in the second final having been taken out and
needing to claw his way back from the back of the pack!
But the man of the show was Chris Kerswell, taking both
final wins, TQ and track record! Obviously Chris and
the PHI will be a force to be reckoned with over the
national season! |

Going into the second
round of the national season, Chris Kerswell is leading
the Championship, Christopher Delves 4th and Steve Lissamore
6th. Hopefully these drivers can maintain and improve
upon their current positioning. |
