The first ever Sportwerks Recoil grand prix was held by the Leighton model car club on Sunday 13th May held at Leighton Buzzard Model car club. The club laid out a well designed flowing track that was ideal for racing the Sportwerks recoils which shared the day with the Mini GP. Over 40 entries had prepaid and turned up on the day ensuring a real fun day of racing.

The size of the Sporterks Recoils were ideally suited to this well designed club track which offered plenty of grip on the standard recoil rubber tyres which meant that no additive was required for a good balance and close racing.Sportwerks local driver Dave Ringsell proved age and failing sight was'nt an issue as he stormed round with his car to set the fastest time in each round at what is his local track. It was not as clear cur as it sounds as he was chased hard in every round by Selections models driver Matt Curtis and Sportswerks driver Keith Helmke who spent every round chasing Dave and competing with each other for second spot which Matt finally managed to annex at the very end of round three. Chas Chadwick and Andy Boldison shared a car in qualifying and grabbed the forth spot just ahead of local driver Chris Hampson who also did a great job running the computer and racing to his normal high standards that drivers have come to expect from this good club
.
The biggest problem was telling who's car was who's as all the Sportwerks Recoils had standard bodies which is either black or blue, leading to some interesting first corners ! and that was not just from the bruises,

The three A final legs went the way of qualifing with Dave Rinsell stamping his authority on the event by leading all the way, the main change from qualifing was with Keith Helmke taking two 2nd place finishes in the finals to push Matt Curtis down into third spot.

Thanks to all at the members of the Leighton Buzzard club and Selections Racing along with Sundon models for there support.
