For those
of us who have been following the BRCA electric off-road
national championship this year we all knew the last
round of this years series was sure to be a classic.
Neil Cragg and Darren Bloomfield could both say they have
had a hard but very rewarding years racing in the BRCA
national championship, both sharing the spoils at most
of the events. As a result all year these two have been
pushing each other as hard as possible trying to top the
championship leader board at the close of the season.
After racing each other on all types of surfaces and at
Neil’s local track the deciding round to the championship
was to be held at Stotfold, a circuit local and nearly
home for Darren.
With the extra point awarded for TQ and the championship
so close the event started with an air of excitement and
anticipation for both drivers.
Neil took TQ in round one and then our own Danny McGee
was top of the board in round 2. After a slightly nervous
start Darren finally got everything right and took rounds
3 and 4 to secure the TQ spot and the extra point. Also
in the final for Horizon Hobby was local star Kevin Lee.
Even with Darren on pole the championship was still not
over as Neil could still get enough points to win the series.
Holding his nerve and driving within his limits Darren
continued his good form in qualification to take the first
two legs of the finals and as a result the BRCA national
championship ! Kevin Lee and Danny McGee finished 4th and
5th respectively so everything considered a fantastic day
for Horizon Hobby and Team Losi.
When most of us thought the weekend
could not have gotten much better the 4wd event started.
Darren continued his good form and put on a show in
qualification taking the first 3 rounds with a margin
not usually seen at an off-road event in the UK. Bad
luck for Darren in the finals took away all chances
of him taking the overall win but driving an LRP Powered
Losi Kevin Lee took his chance and the overall win
for the meeting.
Congratulations to Darren Bloomfield for becoming the
BRCA national champion and congratulations must go
to Kevin Lee for winning his very first national.
Congratulations to the Horizon Hobby
team for a good seasons racing and some fantastic team
and individual results.
From all of us at Horizon, thank you! |
