The end of year finals for the F3, 4, 5’s were to be held at Coventry model car club, in the heart of the midlands. The track consists of 95% grass with a T tabletop in the middle of the track and a set of Astroturf covered triples. For the 2wd event the track would be run in anticlockwise direction.

Two Wheel Drive
It was clear to see that Nick Goodall and Mark Stanley were going to be the quick drivers today, both being the only drivers to make 14 laps.
Nick Goodall took round one with a time of 14 laps 312.78, with mark a further 5 seconds behind. The second round saw Mark getting to grips with his new Losi 2wd and took tq for the round in a time of 14 laps in 317.56 with Nick 1.5 seconds behind. Mark smashed tq by 8 seconds to record a time of 14 laps in 304.98, with Nick finishing second in the third round. The fourth and final round of the day saw Mark set about setting an even faster time and was on for the only 15 lapper of the day, until a couple of crashes at the 4 minute mark meant he had to settle for 14 in 305.32.

The A final after 4 rounds was.
1 Mark Stanley XXXcr
2 Nick Goodall B4
3 Chris Cocker X6
4 Richard Sharpe B4
5 Iain Mellish B4
6 Robin Lucas B4
7 Nathan Waters XXXcr
8 Paul Sykes B4
9 Andy Griffiths B4
10 Lloyd Storey B4

The first leg was a close race between Mark and Nick with mark leading from start to finish, with Nick a couple of seconds behind, the pair just drove away from the rest of the grid.

The second leg was a very one sided affair with Mark making a good start and never looking back, to take the leg win by 14 seconds from Nick and with it the 2wd title, Mark chose not to race the third leg.

Four Wheel Drive
With the track being run in a clockwise direction today, it meant the drivers were looking forward to a fast and flowing track.
The grass had worn slightly from the 2wd event but the lap times stayed consistent throughout the day with TQ still beatable by the last heat in round 4 of qualifying.

In Round 1Chris Cocker took TQ with a borrowed X Factory X5 in a time of 14/ 320.28. The second round saw Mark Stanley take 12 seconds off TQ to set a time of 14/ 308.14. In the third round Mark would take TQ again but could not better his round 2 time. In the final round of qualifying the only person who could stop Mark from taking pole position was Chris Cocker, but with his fastest time being 14/ 320 it looked very unlikely. Mark was on for the only 15 lapper of the day but a couple of mistakes meant he had to settle for a 14/ 306.54, and TQ for the second day in a row.

The rest of the top 10 looked like this:

1 Mark Stanley Losi XX4we
2 Lee Farrer JC BJ4 worlds
3 Ian Southwell Losi XX4we
4 Chris Cocker X Factory X5

6 Lloyd Storey Losi XXX4g+

The first leg got under way and Mark pulled away from the rest of the field at a rate of 2 seconds a lap, by the 4th minute he had lapped the entire field with Chris Cocker 2nd and Andy Griffiths 3rd.

The second leg wasn’t quite as dominant but Mark still took the win by ½ a lap from Ian Southwell and Andy Griffiths. Mark had taken the second leg and with it the 4wd title.

The third leg was won by Lloyd Storey driving a XXX4g+.

Mark used LRP VTec 4200hv batteries, LRP sphere 07 & TC spec speedos and Vector X11 6.5 brushless motor in 2wd and Peak Performance 5.5 Brushless motor in 4wd, and KO Universe 3 transmitter.
