Round 1 of the Herts winter series was nothing less than superb. The club in association with Panther tyres started the series with an excellent event. Supported by some of the best drivers in the UK including 8 time national champion David Crompton, Karl Jackson, Mike Craddock, Stewart Wilcox, Reece Sawyer, Darren Bloomfield, Sam Taylor and Bruce Thompson just to name a few.

The event and series is to be run on Panther tyres only so the choice has been limited but still enough options to tune your car to suit your style. Komodo Dragon's were the choice of most but a selected few preferred the Hedgehog for more steering and corner speed. With a long day ahead round one started at 9am with no practice for anyone and it was Mike Craddock who took the top honours in the round. His Kyosho team mate Karl Jackson posted the first 8 lap run of the weekend in round two and really set the bench mark for the rest to follow. In Round three Darren Bloomfield (Losi Novarossi) posted the fasted time of the event and secured Tq for the meeting. Second of the Grid we found Matthew Perry and also in the final for Losi and Novarossi Stewart Wilcox, Reece Sawyer, David Spashett and Bruce Thompson. So before any bump-ups Losi Novarossi had 50% of the final covered with an excellent team performance.

With the light fading fast the club pushed hard to get through the finals as best they could be at with the light fading the A finals were run in the dark. The cars looked amazingly quick and depth perception of the track was increasingly difficult. Joe Joyce took the win in the Truggy class with a very solid controlled drive. At the start of the buggy final cars were going off all over the place. Karl Jackson and David Crompton jumped out to an early lead of about 10 seconds on the rest of the field. Darren Bloomfield must have seen red after his bad start and drove at full attack for the rest of the final. He slowly pulled the leading two back in and when he finally took the lead he never looked back or stopped pushing. One amazing drive earned him the win for the day. Bruce Thompson using an Novarossi NPLUS215 engine took the risk in the 10minute final not to stop and he made up enough time to finish in second place so another fantastic result !

Great effort from the club and a fantastic start to the Panther series.
