RD4 of
the CML winter series at Frankley was once again a very
wet affair. The UK weather really has not been to kind
to the racers or organisers over the past few months.
With the qualification to be decided on a TQ basis everyone
had to be on top form in all rounds just in case the
track went significantly faster. In round 1 of qualification
David Crompton and his RB powered Crono took the top
spot just in front of Losi driver Simon Willetts and
Special agent Barton in 3rd. In round 2 the track didn't
really get any quicker with drivers knocking just a few
seconds off their best times and Karl Jackson for Kyosho
and Sirio now on top on the pile. Round 3 saw all the
top drivers attack at full speed with nothing held back
in reserve. Darren Bloomfield with his Losi 8ight powered
Novarossi sorted out his minor problems from the start
of the day to set TQ by just over five seconds in front
of Lee Martin.
The main final was
cut down to just 10 minutes so this opened up the opportunity
for most to try and complete the run without stopping.
Darren Bloomfield decided he would stop to be sure
and he was able to build up a lead substantial enough
to stop and still take the overall win. |
