Radios can become quite personal to drivers. The ‘feel’ of the transmitter and all of the programmed functions become familiar and necessary to drivers competing at all levels from club meetings to more serious levels of competition. With one of the module systems from Spektrum most of the popular module based radios can be easily converted to 2.4GHz simply by replacing the transmitter module and receiver. No tools needed just swap the units over. The original servos will function with Spektrum and all of the functionality and ‘feel’ of the original radio is maintained.

The Module Systems comprise a transmitter module and receiver which when bound to each other form a solid globally unique RF link that is unaffected by all of the electronic and mechanical noise that can be produced by an radio controlled car. Spektrum doesn’t use crystals, but unlike systems to date it’s ‘smart’ in the sense that it is aware of channels in its range that are being used so there’s no need any longer for pegs and other forms of frequency control. Turn the radio on and it scans for a free channel and once found occupies it. It’s as simple as that. The anti-avoidance technology that is mandatory for all 2.4GHz systems also means that pagers, mobile phones and computers won’t interfere either.

There are four versions of the system available, each one being designed to work specifically with that particular brand of transmitter. No crystals or complex modifications are required; just merely buy the Spektrum system to suit your brand of transmitter, plug in the DSM module and install the lightweight receiver in your car. Once installed, all that is left to be done is to “Bind” the receiver to the module and then it’s ready to use.
