It may only be 1/18 scale but the Losi Mini Rock Crawler owes
its awesome ability to climb to the fact that it attributes many
of its design features to the full size world of rock crawlers.
Providing both torque and grip to each corner is absolutely vital
to deliver successful performance and the Mini Rock Crawler delivers
just this. Power travels via a centre mounted three-gear transmission
with a spool and slipper and a pair of 4mm solid axles front and
rear hung on a multi link suspension set-up. Axles and ring and
pinion gears are all fabricated from metal for maximum durability
and axle shafts are all supported by ball bearings to provide the
smooth and precise transfer of power needed to navigate some of
the trickiest and most demanding courses. All of the transmission
components are positioned within the chassis to optimise balance
– yet another vital component for a successful rock crawler.
Leaving it’s full sized cousins though, to be an effective competitor
in the scale world the Mini Rock Crawler also needs electronic
control and power systems to compliment it’s mechanical attributes.
An LSR3000 radio system incorporating genuine Spektrum™ 2.4Ghz
DSM™ technology provides super fine interference free control and
in addition of course, it’s all crystal free! Just turn on and
go. Motive power comes from a high-torque Losi electric motor;
control for that is provided by a forward and reverse speed controller
tuned especially to give the kind of trigger precision needed to
navigate the most challenging of terrain. Extra drag brake is incorporated
to hold position in steep climbs and the high torque steering servo
provides the turning power needed when moving at very low speeds
across rough and very demanding terrain.
Losi’s 1/10 scale Rock Claw 2.2 tyres have been scaled down and
mounted onto beadlock style wheels providing the mechanical grip
needed to allow Mini Rock Crawler to navigate nearly any obstacle
with ease. To add to the scale appearance Losi have designed a
Tuber type bodyshell that is available finished in either blue,
red or black.
The Mini Rock Crawler is ready to go out of the box and both car
and transmitter (alkaline) batteries are included, along with a
mains charger.
